This is the official website of Andy Wood. No, not the late, great lead singer of Mother Love Bone. The other Andy Wood. The one who will stop referring to himself in the third person… now. I’m the Andy Wood who does comedy-related things — standup, improv, writing, producing, editing… whatever needs doing.
I love working on funny and/or science-y projects and generally trying to help make the things I work on run more smoothly. I’ve written for and produced shows including Science Channel's How To Build... Everything (tune in 10pm Wednesdays and you'll also catch me onscreen talking about jet packs, Mars rovers and car shredders), E!'s Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings, MTV’s Ridiculousness and more, and I produced and acted in Jason Nash Is Married, the first feature released by Comedy Central’s CC: Studios.
I’m also the director and co-founder of Portland’s Bridgetown Comedy Festival, an annual event in its tenth year of bringing hundreds of today's best comedians to the Pacific Northwest for a four-day comedy extravaganza.
I co-host a weekly podcast called Probably Science with the hilarious Matt Kirshen and Jesse Case, barely using my engineering degree as we interview astronauts, Caltech cosmologists, popular science authors and comedians, talking about their work and the science news of the day.
Standup-wise, I've performed at Seattle's Bumbershoot Arts Festival, SF Sketchfest, the High Plains Comedy Festival, the Seattle International Comedy Competition and clubs and dive bars across this great land, and I've been lucky enough to work with a lot of my comedy idols who I won't name-drop here.
Trivia is another obsession of mine — I wrote on 1 vs. 100 for Xbox Live, in addition to a number of freelance trivia projects, and if you ask me to join you for a pub quiz, I am honor-bound to accept.
